Watch DVD videos on your Microsoft Zune

Microsofts answer to the Apple iPod,  the Zune entered the market with all the features needed to compete with the iPod,  and at a price to intended to beat it.

The screen is fantastic and the quality of the video took MP4 style players to a new level with support for the high quality WMV9 codec support.

We added support for the Zune shortly after its release,  with the simple 1-2-3 wizard interface making converting existing DVD and video files as easy as one-two-three!

Since its release new models have appeared,  but all share the same high quality base video capabilities so you can simply select 'Zune' in the Pocket DVD Wizard and convert your video and DVD files to play on any version of the device.

How to convert DVD video for the Microsoft Zune

Converting DVD video (and other video files) is actually very easy.

  1. Download and install the Pocket DVD Wizard
  2. Click on the desktop icon to start the Wizard
  3. Click on the large 'Select a DVD' button
  4. Follow the step by step instructions,  selecting the 'Zune' or 'Microsoft Zune' (depending on the version of the Pocket DVD Wizard you download) when you get to the device selection screen.

The Pocket DVD Wizard will then create a video file from your DVD you can add it to your Zune library.

If you wanted to convert an AVI, MP4 or DivX file you would take the same steps but use the 'Select a video file' button instead of the 'Select a DVD' button on the first screen.

Firmware Updates

Unlike most other media players,  it looks like Microsoft got the video playback engine in the Zune right first time.  There may be updates to the firmware available,  however they are not required to play the files created by the Pocket DVD Wizard.

Of course,  if you do upgrade to the latest firmware for the Zune then this may make the features even better,  however it is not required for video playback.

Not just limited to the Zune

Unlike some software which need a separate license or version for each device you want to convert for,  the Pocket DVD Wizard supports most makes and models of mp4 players, phones, handheld players, in fact most devices that can display video from a file.

All supported devices are specifically tried and tested, so all you need to do is select the device you own in the drop down box and the Pocket DVD Wizard will do the rest.  There is no extra charge for the other devices,  you get all the conversions for one low registration fee.

Free trial download

The trial version is free and lets you convert 5 minutes of DVD video free so you can see how easy the software is to use,  and what the output looks like on your Zune (you won't be disappointed,  it is a fantastic video player!)

Why not give it a try now?
