Watch DVDs on your Mobile Cell Phone

Three years ago we were looking at phones that could only 'beep' out a tune, now we have fully capable video cell phones,  what next!

We have added support for phones as it's useful on a few occasions,  for example you could load a few TV episodes then next time you are stuck somewhere and don't have your regular media player,  you can watch the episodes on your phone!

Ok,  the phone screens are still pretty small,  and the bitrate most phones support is still pretty low so the movement can be 'jerky' in fast scenes,  but its a nice option to have as a backup,  and usually impresses everyone who sees a mobile phone playing video of any kind!

Download the free trial version of the Pocket DVD Wizard now.

Cell Phone Video Formats

Most phones support a file format known as 3GP and a few support MP4,  so we decided to work on the 3GP format first.

With the release of version 4.6.1 of the Pocket DVD Wizard you can now select a Cell (or mobile) phone as a device option in the drop down devices box.   This will then create a file that will play on the majority of phones out there,  including most models from Sony Ericsson, Motorola and Nokia.

Free Trial Download

As always,  a free trial download is available for the Pocket DVD Wizard,  so you can try the software before you buy it.   The download is available here.

The Pocket DVD Wizard supports more than just phone conversion,  most users of the Pocket DVD Wizard buy it because they want support for their Pocket PC, Palm or iPod Video,  and the phone option is a useful extra.

Adding the Video to your Phone

A lot of phones are coming with USB cables now,  so that is usually the easiest way to add video to the phone if you have it.  Otherwise Infra-red or Bluetooth may be an option for you.  Memory cards for phones appear to be very cheap at the moment,  so if you need extra storage check out which memory card your phone uses asthe cards may be cheaper than you think.

Free updates

We expect the video phone market to mature quite rapidly,  and it wont be long before cell phones appear with larger screens,  higher bitrates and quality support.

You get free upgrades with the Pocket DVD Wizard,  so it's always worth checking back to our site to make sure you have the latest version,  and are getting the best possible quality conversion for your phone.
