Convert DVD and video files for your handheld device |
Convert DVDs and Video to play on your Google Android phoneSupport for the Google Android phone was added to the Pocket DVD Wizard in version 5.3.2.
Using the Pocket DVD Wizard you can make backup copies of your DVD and video files and then play them on any Android enabled phone including the G1 using the video player application from Jeff Hamilton available free from the multimedia section Android Marketplace on your phone. Video conversion has been tried and tested on the T-Mobile G1, as more Android phones become available we will continue to test on these devices to ensure video quality is maintained at the highest possible quality level. Converting DVD content for the T Mobile G1 Android phoneThe conversion is very easy. If you don't already have the Pocket DVD Wizard, download and install it, then simply start the Wizard using the icon on your Desktop. You will see a large 'Select DVD' button, which you need to press, then you will be asked to select the DVD drive and choose a track from the DVD. Once you have selected the DVD you want to convert, the Wizard will take you through a few more options, step by step, explaining each one on the way (you do not need to be a technical genius!) At the stage where the Wizard asks you which device you want to convert for, select the 'Android phone' option. The software will then process the DVD and create a new video file for you. If you have a long DVD to convert you can leave your PC processing the DVD overnight, there is an option to turn off the pc on completion.
Adding new video files to your Android phone.Once you have the newly converted video file, you will want to add it to your Android phone. Again, this is very easy, you simply copy it the the memory card in your phone. If you attach your phone to your PC using the supplied USB cable, you will get a notification on the phone to ask if you want to 'mount' the drive in Windows, you need to tap the mount button on the phone. Once you have mounted the drive, the memory card will appear as a drive in windows file manager and you can simply drag your new video file over to the memory card. Once you have completed the transfer you can disconnect your device and play it using the video player on the Android phone. If the video file does not appear when you first load the video player simply restart your phone, the video files should then appear.
